The sequence tells the story: the storms started near the Pawnee Buttes just before 8 PM, worked southeast through Grover and Stoneham country, crossed into Logan County toward Sterling, and a final cell put measured 1.50 inch hail on Lucerne — five miles north of Greeley — at 10:38 PM. The biggest stones fell over rural ranchland; the closest report to Greeley itself is the Lucerne one. Six reports for hail this large is a thin set, but that is what 2.25 inch hail after 9 PM in ranch country generates — few people are outside to find the stones.
One honesty note about the map: radar underestimated this event. The 2.25 inch stone reported near Stoneham exceeds what the radar-estimated bands over the area suggest, so treat the shading as a floor for the search area, not a ceiling on stone size.

Was a warning issued?
Yes, repeatedly. NWS Denver/Boulder ran severe thunderstorm warnings covering the corridor at 7:17, 7:52, 8:03, 8:26 and 9:01 PM, then again at 10:22 and 10:46 PM — the last two bracketing the Lucerne hail. A tornado warning was also in effect for the same area from 7:35 to 8:03 PM.
Why 2.25-inch hail matters to an asphalt roof

The damage usually is not visible from the ground — and for an evening storm like this one, it was dark before anyone could look. Hail bruises the shingle by fracturing the mat beneath a surface that still looks intact, and the bruised area sheds its protective granules over the following months.
